Homemade Vietnamese cooking
Yen Duc Village is celebrated not only for its serene beauty but also for its distinctive and flavorful cuisine. Each dish is crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, primarily from the gardens of Yen Duc villagers. Many of these vegetables are valued not only for cooking but also for their medicinal properties, serving as remedies in traditional Vietnamese medicine. This blend of freshness and traditional preparation
infuses each dish with vibrant, authentic flavors. Some standout dishes include:
• Chicken Soup with Mugwort Leaves:
A light and nourishing soup made with tender chicken and mugwort leaves. Often enjoyed on cooler days, this dish warms the body, relieves colds, improves blood circulation, and boosts immunity.
• Grilled Fish Wrapped in Banana Leaves:
Fresh river fish, marinated with herbs and spices, wrapped in banana leaves and grilled over charcoal. This technique keeps the fish moist, aromatic, and naturally sweet. It is typically served with a side of salt, pepper, lime, or ginger fish sauce.
• Shrimp Wrapped in Wild Betel Leaves:
Fresh shrimp wrapped in wild betel leaves, then grilled or fried to perfection. The natural sweetness of the shrimp pairs beautifully with the fragrant, earthy flavor of the betel leaves, creating a uniquely delicious dish often served with a dipping sauce made from fermented soybeans or sweet-and-sour fish sauce.
• Crispy Fried Spring Rolls:
Spring rolls filled with a savory blend of pork, vermicelli, wood ear mushrooms, and fresh garden vegetables. Fried to a golden, crispy perfection, these rolls are a favorite among visitors exploring Vietnamese cuisine.
• Yellow Glutinous Rice Wine:
A smooth, aromatic wine made from the famed yellow glutinous rice of northern Vietnam. With its light yellow hue, delicate sweetness, and smooth finish, this wine is a popular choice for festivals and a thoughtful gift.
The combination of fresh ingredients and traditional cooking techniques, paired with the care of Yen Duc’s skilled chefs-who prepare meals with the warmth and hospitality of “cooking for loved ones returning home after a long time” provides visitors with an unforgettable culinary experience. A unique activity available to guests is the opportunity to hand-pick vegetables and herbs from the gardens and cook traditional dishes alongside the villagers. For this reason, Yen Duc’s cuisine is often highly regarded by visitors, many of whom consider it one of the finest dining experiences they have had while traveling in Vietnam.

Q&A
Is La Regina Explorer cruise are suitable for Disabilities, Limited Mobility and Handicapped?
If you have a disability, then it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the experience of cruising Halong Bay. We understand that having a disability means you have to consider how you’ll perform day-to-day activities that most people take for granted — especially when going into an unfamiliar place like a cruise ship.
Does the cruise serve vegetarian food ?
More than ever, travelers have different diets due to food allergies, likes, dislikes, personal reasons, and healthy lifestyles. Those with dietary needs should contact their travel agents or us, providing specific dining requests.
It’s best to have your diet notice to the cruise once your booking is confirmed, and you may need to remind the cruise manager upon boarding to avoid any miscommunication. Low or no sodium, gluten-free, vegetarian, and even vegan requests can be taken care of. Anyway, cruise dining menus are more specialized with seafood and meat, therefore, do not expect a perfect menu as served in vegan restaurant.
Is tipping required on La Regina Explorer cruise ?
Tipping on board Halong La Regina Explorer Cruise is not included in your payment for cruise package nor in your auto bills for services on board. Tipping is not compulsory. It is the way to show your appreciation to the crew on board if you are happy with their services.
